How I got started...

Well, the summer we were in the middle of moving here to the Ozarks, We found an add in the news paper for blueberry picking. We decided to go. They had Newf's. When we asked about them they were really surprised we knew what they were 'cause not many people did. They said 'We just got one of our older dogs (2 year old) back, Would you be interested in him?' We said sure, but on the way down to the house I told mom I really don't want a Newf. I had always dreamed of having a Great Dane, But Mom and Dad said no not with little kids around. We had friends back in TN that had a Newf years before, and they told us he was the best, so Mom and Dad and my sister were trying to convince me that's what I needed! Mom told me 'You don't have to get him'. But guess what, a Newf's very addicting!

We decided to go home and think on it and told them we would give them a call. Well they ended up calling us the next day. They had taken a litter in for a health check and it ended up that one of the black males had gotten stepped on by momma and his hip was pulled out of socket at 6 weeks old. The vet said he would need surgery but when they took him in at 8 weeks and x-rayed him, he had fixed himself! So she said if I wanted him I could have him! When Mom got off the phone she came and told me.

You guessed it!

He came home with me the second I saw him.

He had a little bit of an uneven gait from his injury but never any pain that I could tell.

When I had had him for about 18 months,

I came across HER...

Be careful!  You will find that one isn't enough. I don't know if you could ever have enough of them!

I want Happy dogs and Happy owners.

My Newfies are my pets, companions, and friends.
~
Yep - they drool, they have lots of hair, need lots of grooming and baths and of course right after you give them a bath they make a bee line for the muddy pond and then come back to you for love! They don't stay little and fluffy long, they get BIG and they get big FAST!

If that scares you...Then a newf isn't right for you.

BUT

They are loyal, loving, gentle, patient, you can trust them, they are great companions and they are fun to have around!

If that sounds good to you - GO GIT ONE.
